# Paying for Hatchik

Websites are free, with no time limit — this is not a trial and it does not run
out. An app with a database is $29 a month. Each project is
billed on its own, so three websites and one app is $29 a month.

You get 14 days to try an app before anything is charged.

## Nothing is being charged yet

Paying is not switched on. An app made today runs on its free trial and then
carries on running: nothing is charged, nothing is paused, and nothing is
deleted for money, because there is no way to pay yet. Everything on this page
is what happens once paying opens. You will get an email well before that day,
and a card is only ever asked for on a Hatchik page you have opened yourself.

## The states a project can be in

**On trial.** Free until the trial ends. Nothing is charged, no card is needed,
and the app is fully live the whole time. You can see the days left on the
Billing page.

**Active.** Paid and running.

**Paused.** The project is offline because the trial ended without a plan, or a
payment did not go through. **Nothing has been deleted.** Your files and your
data are held for 21 days from the moment it paused. Add a plan inside those 21
days and everything comes back exactly as it was, at the same address. After 21
days the project and its data are permanently removed, and Hatchik keeps no
copy. Reminders go to your email 7, 14 and 20 days in.

**Switching to a website.** An app being converted into a free website over
seven days. The live site stays up throughout; the draft and the database are
removed at the end. You can cancel the switch while it is in progress, from the
project page.

## Setting up payment

Sign in at `https://app.hatchik.com/account`, open Billing, and press **Set up
payment** next to the project. That opens Paddle's checkout. When it completes,
the project is active, and a paused project comes back online by itself.

## Your card was declined

Paddle emails you when a payment fails and retries it. To fix it, open Billing
on your account page and press **Manage billing, receipts & subscription** —
that opens Paddle's own portal, where you can change the card. The project is
not deleted while this is happening; at worst it pauses, and adding a working
card brings it back.

## Receipts, invoices and cancelling

All three are the same button: **Manage billing, receipts & subscription** on
your account page. Paddle's portal shows every receipt, lets you download
invoices, change your payment method and cancel a subscription. Cancelling stops
the next charge; the project keeps running until the period you have paid for
ends, then pauses under the 21-day rule above.

You can also cancel by deleting the project, which stops the billing
immediately and removes everything at once. Read "Your data" first, and download
what you want to keep.

## Refunds

There is a 14-day guarantee on an app subscription. The terms are at
`https://hatchik.com/refunds.html`. Refunds are requested through Paddle: use
the **View receipt** or **Manage subscription** link in the receipt email Paddle
sent you, or the **Manage billing** button on your Hatchik account page.

## AI inside your app

Separate from the subscription, and not something Hatchik charges for. If your
app uses AI at runtime — a chat feature, smart search, a photo it reads — it
runs on your own Anthropic or OpenAI key. You add the key on the project page,
Hatchik stores it encrypted and hands it to your app, and your provider bills
you directly for what the app uses.

Hatchik does not sell AI credit. If your app's AI features stop working while
the rest of the app carries on, the usual cause is the key: removed, expired,
or out of funds at the provider. To your customers that looks like a broken
feature rather than a billing problem, so check the key first.

Never paste an API key into a chat. Keys are added only on the project page at
`https://app.hatchik.com`.

## Disputes

If you believe you have been charged wrongly, email `hello@hatchik.com` with the
receipt. That address is for billing disputes, legal and data-protection
requests, and abuse reports. It is not a support desk, and nobody there can fix
a broken site.
